Tip: What You Should Do If You Suspect A Natural Gas Leak

A natural gas leak in your house is a very serious matter. A gas leak might be the cause of faulty appliances, service lines inside or outside your house, from the gas main, or loose connections. Take these precautions immediately if you ever suspect a gas leak in your house: Do not turn on or off any electrical switches or unplug any appliances. Never light a match or lighter and avoid causing any sparks. Make sure to ventilate your house by opening doors and windows, do not turn on fans. If you can hear a hissing noise from a gas leak or the odor of gas is very strong evacuate your house immediately. Go to neighbor’s house and call the fire department and your local utility if you ever smell a gas leak.
